Sky Mystery Needs Illumination

Residents of the San Fernando Valley report seeing a mysterious blinding light early yesterday morning, but no real answers have been found as to what it was and where it came from.

In the early morning hours of February the 4th, Ben Gonzalez and his girlfriend were shocked to find a blinding white light outside their bedroom window at their home in Chatsworth.

"I was almost asleep, when I felt her clench up tight...right as I begin to hear this sound, that at first I thought could be a car, it grew steadily louder (nothing LOUD per se... more of a gradually-building hum). I look toward the window myself and notice the entire sky through the blinds is flashing and glowing whitish-bluish-orange. All the while, this bizarre, almost electrical hum is modulating in tandem with the shifting light-up of the sky."

Fortunately enough, Ben had his girlfriend to corroborate what he had seen. This seemed to be no dream. They reported the mysterious light to have begun at about 1:37am, and lasted longer than either would have expected.

"It went on for about 6 seconds probably and then just stopped completely."

What was this light? It seemed to be nothing either of them had ever seen before. On asking Ben, what his first impressions were, he simply stated, "A nuke. I waited to hear the boom, but no BOOM came. Just the hum and the flashing and then it was gone." On asking him why he thought it was a nuke, he confirmed it was because the actual intensity of the light coming through the shades. Seemingly, a uniquely strange incident.

But Ben and his girlfriend were not the only ones that experienced something bizarre that night.

A few miles away in West Hills, Chris Stagnaro went outside last night for a late night cigarette, only to view something odd in the sky.

"I walked out and it looked more like it does at twilight... All the sky was that color, everything I could see, everything was lit... It didn't have a source of origin."

Chris also reported that the light lasted about 6 - 10 seconds and at about the same time Ben and his girlfriend did. The noise report was also consistent. Nothing "loud and sustainable" or seemingly "identifiable", just a sort of an "electrical hum".

Whatever the cause may have been, nothing has been found in the local news about it as of yet. No electrical storms, meteors, astronomical occurrences… nothing. It seems that simpler explanations such as headlights or street lamp malfunctions can be ruled out by the synchronicity and the distance of these viewers, but neither party ultimately is sure about the origins of this light. Although the residents who have witnessed it have found no concrete answers, they will surely not forget this fantastical light show any time soon.

Great stuff Alethea -- I'm going to spread it around to see if I know any other folks heard anything about it.

Interesting - even though the timeline is a little off... but the connection is "kinda" there...

I don't doubt that such things occur. When a new president is elected I often wonder whether he gets the real scoop on places like Roswell and Area 51. That would be the first information I would want on at least the second day.

Jen, THANKS so much for your story! Hopefully more people will come out of the woodwork and share theirs. I have another contact that supposedly saw it, but I haven't talked to him about it yet.

Askcherlock, it's interesting.... sometimes I read expolitics articles, and supposedly Obama will be the one to reveal the "fact" that extraterrestrials live among us... we'll see what happens I guess
